WE BELIEVE IN BIBLE STUDY

The earliest known reference to a Sunday School in the story of Thomaston’s First Baptist Church appears in a book written in 1849, White’s Historical Collections, a volume on Georgia communities. Since that date, and probably since a much earlier time, a Sunday School for Bible study has been a central fact in the story of this church.

The Bible says of itself, “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16-17. To this end, the First Baptist Church has a Sunday School organized for the purpose of helping every member of the family to learn Bible truth and how to apply these lessons in their daily lives.
