Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do
you truly love me?"
He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." John 21:16
Used
For His Glory- April
Dear friends and family,
As I write this my room has a nice cold breeze
coming through the window. The major heat of the “summer” has gone and
now enters rainy seasons! God has provided lots of rain and has filled
our tanks and then some to share to our neighbor which is a huge praise.
The cold wind is nice and I am enjoying the weather change. I am
actually using my blanket at night!!
Last month was pretty hectic but this month is
just as busy. This month my team members and I are learning about cross
cultural communication. We attended full days of learning language and
story seminars which enables us to study the bible more and be able to
narrate the stories to unbelievers. Fellow missionaries Steve and Carol
Lyons are good friends to the team and I and they showed us how to
better effect our evangelizing to those who want to hear the gospel. My
team members and I are into our third unit out of six which we are about
half way into our TIMO experience here in our villages. We are into our
critical point of doing evangelism but in kizaramo. Ministry is culture
and culture is ministry. The more we are learning the language and ways
of the Z people, the more we are diving into ministry. Its sounds simple
and easy and probably to the average Westerner pretty insignificant but
it’s a huge deal. The team is learning key cultural history that defines
the Zaramo’s belief. If we can understand where their “thinking” goes
then we can better tell them about Jesus and tell them in the way “they”
would understand. That takes research and time. And that is what our
team is dedicating to do. Hard it may be for us but a goal we are
setting none the less. Please keep us in prayer as we research the Z
people more deeply and concentrate on language. I need this
accountability to stay focus and optimistic in what the Lord has me to
do. And frustrations can so easily get me to think negative about myself
or think I can’t do this because it’s too hard. So pray I don’t give up
and that my team members don’t lose heart as well as we have seen those
types of days.
Further prayer request includes my Z friends.
One of my closest friends, Mama Halima (one of my seven) is going to
narrations and she LOVES the stories. She got excited the other day when
it was raining and a bright and vivid rainbow shown in the sky. She
heard the story of Noah and got so excited that she saw the rainbow. She
said to me, “Look! The rainbow! The story of Noah from the teachings Mr.
Tim taught.” You should have seen her smile and her enthusiasm. She
loves going to the narrations and she shows up to my house 30 min before
its actually time to walk to hear the stories at Mr. D’s house. I love
it! Praise the Lord with me but also pray that she comes to know Jesus
and does that from her own decision making. Pray we just simply tell the
stories from the bible and let the Holy Spirit work in her life. And
pray for other opportunities for my other lady friends! I am getting
really excited for Mama Halima. Can you tell?!
Have a great week, and know I love you and
appreciate you all.
In Him,
Paulina

This is the team and I. There is a total of 15 of us so you
can imagine the chaos, the love and the never ending hurl of
excitement and busyness that goes with living together. And in
Africa! We love each other, annoy each other, look after one
another and adopt each other as family.. Literally. |

This is the team in the team vehicle and us praying which is
something we come to really need to survive out here. Prayer is
so key. We talk to God about our struggles, our ministries and
our personal walk with him. |

We still need prayers in a lot of areas but going into our
9th month as a team, we are finding out what life is really
about, and how to work together in unison! And seeing what the
Lord has for us. |
